Membership in the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce is an investment in the community.  By supporting efforts to improve the economy, you put more dollars in the pockets of your customers, which translates to more dollars to you.  As members work together to improve the economy, more funds become available for dealing with some of the underlying problems any community experiences, making this the best place in America to live and do business.

 

In addition, there are nuts and bolts advantages to becoming a member:

 

Business Listing – your business is listed by category and alphabetically in our membership director on the web (www.cortezchamber.org), in addition members have the option of including a 25 word description and a link to their own website at no extra cost.

 

Monthly NewsletterChamber Commentaries, is a monthly publication that keeps members up to date on what’s going on in the chamber and the community. The newsletter is also a forum for promoting your business to other chamber members through advertising inserts.

 

Monthly membership meetings – Each month, on the 3rd Wednesday, members gather to hear reports from local officials, hear a program important to the community, and enjoy the company of other business people.  There is no charge to attend, except for buying your own lunch or breakfast.

 

Referrals – Each year we receive over 50,000 requests for information about businesses, events, and activities in our area.

 

Business Builder Seminars – the chamber offers specialty low-cost, high quality monthly seminars on topics of interest to business people.  Please call the chamber for specific topics and dates.

 

Brochure Placement – we have racks for brochures and business cards that belong to chamber members in the Colorado Welcome Center. This display in the “local” sections of the Welcome Center is available only to Chamber members.  The Colorado Welcome Center is host to over 42,000 visitors each year.

 

Bulk Mail Permit – the chamber keeps a bulk mail permit that members can use for their business mailings. This is a great way to lower the cost of a mass.  There are restrictions so call the Chamber for details.

 

Networking – the chamber provides a great place to network with other business people at Business After Hours, the Membership Luncheons, and/or seminars.

 

Marketing campaigns – we promote our area throughout the Four Corners for business and shopping to bring more people to the area…your membership dollars help support this effort.

 

Business After Hours – hosted by a different business each month, this event gives members the opportunity to socialize and meet new people. Join us for great food, drinks, and great company. The list to host fills up quickly each year and gives the host a wonderful opportunity to showcase their business to the community.

 

Annual Chamber Banquet & Celebration – held in January each year the banquet is one of the highlights of the business year. Awards include Business and Citizen of the Year as well as special entertainment. Business sponsorships are available for this always sold-out event.

 

Leadership opportunities – there are lots of opportunities for individuals to participate directly in the continuing economic health of our community.  There are many volunteer opportunities to serve on committees, events or take part in leadership trainings.

 

Health Insurance – the chamber offers an association health insurance package through Rocky Mountain Health Plans.  You must be a member in good standing to access the insurance, and no membership is refused because of health status.

 

Colorado Welcome Center – the chamber also operates the Colorado Welcome Center for the Southwest section of Colorado. The Welcome Center provides visitors with the local and statewide information they need to make their stay in Colorado and exceptional experience. The Welcome Center is staffed by trained Travel Counselors and all the information is free of charge to visitors.

 

Community Google – we don’t claim to know everything but our staff and membership collectively know a lot! All kinds of business questions and general information questions are fielded through the Chamber. We know of many people and places to call for information so call us if you’ve got a question!

 

Any business, organization or individual that desires to work with others to improve our community is eligible for membership.  Membership is not dependent on race, gender, economic status, health status, or any other restriction.The Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce does not make health insurance coverage offered through the association available other than in connection with someone who is a member of the association
