Kelly Place is both an archaeological preserve and unique bed and breakfast located in the heart of the Four Corners region. Just 10 miles west of Cortez Colorado, our lodging is nestled among the red-rock canyons and majestic Sleeping Ute Mountain. Canyons of the AncientsThere are over 25 documented prehistoric Indian sites on the 38-acre estate. Guests may follow our self-guided tour to any of these. Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, with the highest density of Ancestral Puebloan (“cliff-dweller”) sites, borders Kelly Place to the north. Guests may enjoy hiking into the sculpted red-rock canyons and mesas located just out our back door.

Close by are Mesa Verde National Park and Hovenweep National Monument, a little farther out you’ll find Monument Valley and Arches National Park. You’ll find Kelly Place can be your retreatCortez Co RV Campingaway from it all. Come spend a night or two, have a country breakfast and hike the ancient trails all right on our private preserve.

Stone Turtle Lodges are 840 square feet of charming comfort. Individual cabins with lovely wood floors.  The cabins are open with two large picture windows looking out at Sleeping Ute Mountain and the carved mesas of Mesa Verde National Monument.  The cabins are centrally located to the high mountains, Anasazi sites, hiking trails, rivers, and lakes. Surrounded by quiet farm land.  Sunsets are spectacular.   Far from city lights. Full view of the stars right from the cabin’s front porch.

One bedroom with queen bed downstairs.  Loft has three twin beds.  One bath with tiled shower.  Kitchen has refrigerator, stove top, microwave and Keurig hot drink server.  Living area has love seat, comfort chairs and desk.

The cabins are located 3 miles north of Cortez, CO and 8 miles south of Dolores, CO.  We are 12 miles from Mesa Verde National Park, 49 miles from Durango CO, 63 miles from Telluride CO, 10 miles from Anasazi Heritage Center, and 8 miles from McPhee Reservoir.  High country and desert hiking trails are just a few miles away.  Excellent fishing holes all around us.  Famous rafting trips on the Animas and Dolores Rivers in spring and summer.
